Climate change: How GIS can help towards a greener future
Event Start date: 02 Jul 2008
Event supported by British Geological Survey
Following the success of the 2007 AGI Environment SIG's conference we are proud to announce the 2008 conference will be held on Wednesday 2nd July 2008 and theme is 'Climate change: How GIS can help towards a greener future'.
With the devastating floods in the summer of 2007 and the high level coverage of climate change in the media, there is no better time than now for the GI community to discuss how we can help towards a greener future. With the aim of getting a good variety of speakers the Environmental SIG have opened a call for papers inviting you to submit original contributions that discuss case studies and examples, new developments, research, practical experience and visionary commentary on how GIS can help with climate change to create a greener future. Papers can focus on anything from the analysis of flooding events, to how reducing your carbon footprint can help reduce the impact of climate change as long as GIS is playing a part!
If you have never presented at a conference before do not be put off, the Environmental SIG's conference committee will be more than happy to provide guidance and help to anyone who asks!
