(HMRSC X) will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 8 to 11 September,
2008. The subject of High Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography is not new
to the Himalayan region. In 1992 when the second symposium on High
Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography (HMRSC II) was held in Beijing and
Lhasa, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development
(ICIMOD) hosted the oral presentation in Kathmandu. ICIMOD with support
from the ESA, the ICA, the Graz University of Technology and the
University of Graz is organising HMRSC-X with the objective of promoting
and exchanging experiences on developing and applying remote sensing
techniques on high mountain regions.
The
topics that will be treated in the HMRSC X are diverse and they include
remote sensing techniques, environmental studies, morphological
mapping, monitoring of environmental and global change biodiversity,
amongst others.
